LEICESTER CITY SET TO INSPIRE OTHERS IN ENGLAND WITH EPL TITLE

Leicester City are just a step away from the English Premier League after winning their last encounter against Swansea City.

The team sits atop the league with 76 points garnered from 35 matches. If they defeat Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, they will lift the title after successfully fighting off the title threat from second-placed Tottenham Hotspurs.


The Spurs were the team who could have piped The Foxes to the title but they lost the golden opportunity with the 1-1 draw with West Brom at home on Monday. Even if Leicester City fail to defeat the Red Devils, they would now require just two points from three matches to be sure of finishing top.

Spurs are now seven points adrift with three games left, but head coach of the team, Mauricio Pochettino, still hoping for a slip or just not wanting to give up till the end, said:

“We still need to believe. We are not going to give up.”

Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester squad started the race this season with the aim of just avoiding relegation or at most finishing in the first half but the team are now set to claim their first top-flight success after leaving Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City and defending champions Chelsea in their wake.

Roy Hodgson is considering bringing back John Terry

Roy Hodgson has recently talked about the possibility of luring John Terry into the English national football team as the head manager wants to reinforce the defensive section of the national squad and he is viewing the already retired John Terry as a possible option.

“There are, in my opinion, no left-sided centre-backs who are English playing in the league who are at least at the level of the ones we are choosing and that’s a fact of life and there’s not much we can do about it’’

“The point that we haven’t got the left-sided one is quite right, but there is nothing I can do about that unless suddenly in the next five weeks some brilliant English left-sided centre-back appears on the scene and I don’t anticipate that. I had a long chat with John the other day; he’s a very nice guy. But because he retired so long ago, he retired four years ago. Derby manager Paul Clement has stated that the arrival of goalkeeper Scott Carson is a major boost to the team ahead of the new Championship season. The former Wigan Athletic goalkeeper provides a lot of experience to the back four that crumbled towards the end of last season.

If it had not been for this poor form, Derby would have been playing in the Premier League by now and Steve McLaren would have been in charge of the team. As it is, McLaren was sacked just before the summer holidays began. Clement has been brought in for his first managerial career.

Derby are aware that the Englishman has little experience of managing a club as the figurehead, but they are confident of having secured a bright young manager. Clement has worked under Italian legend Carlo Ancelotti for several years at various top clubs like Real Madrid and Paris St Germain. The experience of working under such big names have such big clubs will have certainly provided him with immense experience, although it will be a completely different job to manage a club in the Championship that has promotion aspirations. For 85 minutes against Slovenia, it was looking like a day to forget for striker Wayne Rooney after he had missed some crucial chances to put his team ahead. The England team were trailing two Slovenia and were in danger of dropping their first points in the group stages.

After a disappointing World Cup 2014, the team has been on an impeccable run of form that has seen them take up five wins out of five up until now. A sixth victory would put them in a commanding position going into the last few games.

Ryan Bertrand wants to have a bigger role in Roy Hodgon’s team

For a fee of €10 million, Ryan Bertrand was transferred from Aston Villa to Southampton and it has turned out to be a bargain price for the team of Ronald Koeman as the 25 year old defender has turned out to be one of the best players in this season of the Premier League.

Bertrand has performed in almost all of the Premier League matches in this season for Southampton with impressive performances being made throughout the entire campaign but he is now ready to make a claim in the England national football team.

The last match that Bertrand played with England was back in March 31 when he entered the pitch at the 87th minute during a friendly match that was being battled out between Italy and England at the Juventus Stadium.

Bertrand is hoping that he play a bigger role for England at the international stage and even though the undisputed left-back of Southampton only played for a few minutes against Italy, he said a few things concerning the match and how it was for him to get back on the pitch.
